Designing for Children



 When designing for children, it is important to keep in mind that bright colors and furniture that can be climbed on. Children are always moving and just like with every other design, interior designers must cater to the client.

The space must be inclusive to children. Meaning, counter heights should be lowered, as well as chairs, water fountains, and handles. ADA accessible also plays a role in creating wide hallways, bathrooms, and doorways. Anthropomorphic data research will assist a designer with heights and reaches.

Children want to have fun in a space while being safe. Thinking of spaces built for initial safety can easily lead to fun with furniture that moves and twists, along with painted walls of unusual colors. Hospitals, schools, and museums can all be playful with the correct characteristics.
